  2. SYMPTOMS usually occur after a severe crushing or penetrating injury in an
  3. extremity. The site of the wound becomes very painful, skin nearby may turn
  4. black or darken and gas bubbles rise from oozing fluid. In severe cases
  5. there may be prostration, delerium and coma.
  6. CAUSES are from Clostridium perfringens bacteria.
  7. TREATMENT. Consult your doctor immediately. Urgent treatment required.
  8. .May require removal of dead tissue or foreign material from the wound.
  9. .Antibiotics, antitoxin and possibly hyperbaric oxygen may be required.
