- Gas Gangrene
- SYMPTOMS usually occur after a severe crushing or penetrating injury in an
- extremity. The site of the wound becomes very painful, skin nearby may turn
- black or darken and gas bubbles rise from oozing fluid. In severe cases
- there may be prostration, delerium and coma.
- CAUSES are from Clostridium perfringens bacteria.
- TREATMENT. Consult your doctor immediately. Urgent treatment required.
- .May require removal of dead tissue or foreign material from the wound.
- .Antibiotics, antitoxin and possibly hyperbaric oxygen may be required.
